userflow alternatives, once your flows need to go somewhere else
Userflow does its job well in the browser. most people who leave it aren't unhappy with the flows, they just need them to reach places Userflow doesn't go.

tl;dr (too long, didn't read)
Userflow builds onboarding flows and checklists for web apps. third-party reports put it at about $240 a month billed annually for 3,000 MAU. it doesn't support native mobile apps.
for mobile, look at Appcues or Pendo. for a smaller bill, UserGuiding or Product Fruits. for growth teams who want analytics in the same place, Userpilot.
if the real issue is users asking where things are, HeyTappr lets them ask and then talks them through the live screen, on the web and on Android.
why people go looking
Userflow sits in the middle of the market. it's more capable than a bare tour library and lighter than the big adoption platforms, and it's aimed at web products that want flows and checklists without a long implementation. we couldn't read Userflow's own pricing page when we checked, so the numbers here come from third-party reporting: roughly $240 a month billed annually (or $300 month to month) for 3,000 MAU on the Startup plan, and about $680 a month billed annually for 10,000 MAU on Pro.
the reason people leave comes up again and again, and it's mobile. Userflow's own help docs say it doesn't support native mobile apps. that's fine until your product ships an iOS or Android app, and then half your users can't see the onboarding you spent months tuning.
the other reason is the jump between plans. going from 3,000 to 10,000 MAU nearly triples the reported price, and that's the moment a lot of teams stop and compare, especially if they'd like deeper analytics for the extra money.
userflow vs heytappr, side by side
we make heytappr, so this is our side of it. Userflow is the more complete onboarding builder.
| Userflow | HeyTappr | |
|---|---|---|
| built for | onboarding flows and checklists in web apps | helping stuck users inside one product |
| how guidance starts | flows you target and trigger | the user asks in their own words |
| guidance format | flows, checklists, launchers | spoken steps with a spotlight on the real control |
| native mobile | no | Android SDK |
| answers written by | your team | your team; the AI only picks which approved guide fits |
| when a release breaks a step | you find out and fix it | flagged automatically in a needs-attention list |
| pricing | about $240/mo billed annually (third-party figure) | shared on a demo |
when you should just stay with userflow
if your product is web-only and likely to stay that way, and your flows are doing their job, there's little reason to move. the tools that fix Userflow's gaps mostly cost more or ask for more setup, and a working onboarding flow is worth more than a feature list.
it's also worth asking whether the thing bothering you is the tool or the flows. a long tour that nobody finishes will be just as long in Appcues. Chameleon's benchmark data found that tours with seven or more steps finish only about 16% of the time, so trimming your flows may do more than switching vendors.
the alternatives worth looking at
Appcues, if mobile is the reason
Appcues covers the web and native mobile, with SDKs for iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, and Ionic. its no-code builder handles flows and checklists, plus announcements. there's no public price, but the Start plan goes up to 3,000 MAU and there's a free trial. see appcues alternatives.
Pendo, if you also want to understand usage
Pendo is analytics first. if part of why you're shopping is that you can't see what users do, it answers that and gives you guides too, on mobile as well as web. it's free up to 500 monthly active users and custom-priced after that. see pendo alternatives.
UserGuiding or Product Fruits, if price is the reason
UserGuiding starts at $174 a month billed yearly and Product Fruits at $111 a month billed annually. both are cheaper than Userflow's reported starting price. UserGuiding is web-only too, so it won't fix a mobile gap. Product Fruits mentions native iOS but not Android. see userguiding alternatives.
Userpilot, for growth teams
Userpilot puts onboarding flows and product analytics in one place, with surveys on top, starting at $299 a month for up to 2,000 MAU. native mobile is available as a paid add-on. see userpilot alternatives.
HeyTappr, if the problem is stuck users
heytappr starts from the other end. rather than a flow you decide to show, the user asks for help in their own words. heytappr picks the guide your team approved, says each step out loud, spotlights the real button on the live page, and moves on when the user clicks. questions nobody has written a guide for show up in your analytics. it's one script tag on the web plus an Android SDK. it won't replace a setup checklist, and it doesn't try to.
how to decide in five minutes
if mobile is why you're leaving, cross off everything web-only and choose among Appcues, Pendo, Userpilot, or heytappr on Android. if price is why, UserGuiding and Product Fruits are cheaper and similar in spirit.
if neither is quite it, think about the last ten support tickets about finding things. if most of them are some version of "where do i...", better flows probably won't fix them, because those users already finished onboarding. that's the problem heytappr was built for.
