what is
voice user interface
in one line
a voice user interface (vui) lets people interact with software by speaking and listening instead of only reading and clicking.
a voice user interface, or vui, is any interface where voice is part of the interaction: the user speaks a request, the system responds out loud, or both.
voice is useful when hands or eyes are busy, and it helps a lot of people for whom reading dense instructions is slow or tiring. it also feels more like being helped by a person.
voice works best alongside a screen rather than instead of it. spoken instructions paired with a visual cue on the right control are easier to follow than either on its own.
where heytappr fits
heytappr speaks each step of a guide out loud while spotlighting the control on screen. the instruction is shown as text too, so guidance still works with the sound off.
